For us the best feature of our house is the caged pool and lanai area. While the pool and deck area gets lots of morning and afternoon sun, it's always shady under the lanai overhang. We use the pass through window from the kitchen to the lanai and eat most of our meals outside. We enjoy the privacy of the pool area and the variety of plants and trees that we can watch flourish. Besides Adonidia, Areca, Bismark, and Triangle palms, there is Bird of Paradise and Bamboo. Our neighbors love the grapefruit and orange trees during season. From April through June the scent from the blooming gardenia bushes near the front door make coming home special. We really enjoy entertaining in the house and having guests visit, but we moved to Florida to enjoy the outdoors and we do love the lanai and yard.
We jokingly refer to our area of Southbay as the "Heights" because we are above the flood plain yet only a short walk down to the marina and clubhouse. We also have some of the best neighbors anyone could ask for. We like the Osprey location because of easy access to Casey Key, Nokomis Beach, and I-75 without going through the heavier traffic in Sarasota or Venice.
